Swimming

Saturday November 28th, the day after we got home from Arizona, we decided we needed to do a family activity. We used to go swimming all the time at the Lehi pool, but since being pregnant and having a newborn we haven't been for a long time. We thought we better start getting Anastyn used to the water so she will hopefully love swimming like the rest of us. She did great, we kept her in the water for at least 30 minutes and she never complained, even when we dunked her! (Taeya 3 years and 4 months old, Anastyn 2 1/2 months old)

Arizona

On November 19th the girls and I survived the 12 hour drive to Kimberly's house in Arizona. The girls did great considering the amount of time spent in their car seats and we had a fantastic week enjoying the Arizona sun. It was 85 degrees in Arizona while it was snowing in Utah. We planned the trip so we could be at Kimball's baptism and while we were there, figured we might as well stay for Thanksgiving. We had such a fun week. We did some shopping, hung out, watched movies, ate yummy food, and just enjoyed being with the Whitmer family.

Kierra and Taeya had so much fun together, they had fun having "twinner" hair during the week. They both loved holding Anastyn and often fought over who held her first!

Saturday, November 21st, Kimball was baptized. He is such a sweet boy and it was sure great to be there for this big milestone in his life.

He looked so handsome in his suit! (Too bad Taeya and Anastyn didn't really cooperate).

We all loved spending so much time with "Papa and Nana" they sure saved me during the week.

While us older girls were shopping, the little girls were off to the ball! They had so much fun driving in the jeep. Kimberly lives out in the middle of nowhere which was nice because we didn't have to worry about the kids getting hit by a car and there was a lot of red dirt to play in. These 2 girls spent many hours driving the jeep down the road where there was a nice soft patch of sand.

When they weren't in dress-ups they could usually be found in their princess pajama's. The polly pockets and ponies were very clean after their many "baths" in the bathroom sink.

Anastyn was so content if she was being held. Thankfully their were lots of willing arms! My mom was so awesome - she would bathe her and get her dressed for me each day. Of course I think she enjoyed snuggling with her in the process!

One afternoon Mom and I made the girls tutu's - which they loved wearing. Taeya's is already trashed from wearing it so much (it probably didn't help that it made it to the sand pile one day!)

They were very creative in how they wore them.

Kenzly and Taeya became little pals during the week. Kenzly was so good to play with the girls. This picture was taken on Thanksgiving, right after our feast.

I curled all 3 girls hair and they looked so cute, i just couldn't get a picture of all 3 of them looking great at the same time.

Papa and Anastyn became buds during the week. He held her a lot while she slept, it was especially helpful while we were getting food ready on Thanksgiving. She enjoyed her first football game with closed eyes!

2 Months Old

My baby is already 2 months old, I know I say this in every post, but I can't believe how fast time is going by. She is so much fun to have in our home. It's so fun now that she is smiling and so much more alert. I took her to her 2 month appointment yesterday and she is growing very nicely! She is 11 lbs. 9 oz (85th %), 23.2 inches (90th %) and her head circumference is 40 cm (85th %). I don't really understand how they do the percentages because I really don't think she has a big head! Oh-well, looks like we will have another tall girl.

Around 7-8 weeks she finally started giving us some really big smiles - so cute!

The past few nights she has been going to bed around 12:00 - 1:00 am, and sleeping until between 6:00 - 7:00 am, then going back to sleep for another 3 hours. It has been nice, now if we could only get her to go to sleep around 10:00 pm I would probably be feeling even better!

She still wants to snack - I feed her about every 2 hours. She only eats for 5-10 minutes so I don't complain too much! I have sparatically been giving her the reflux medicine. Not quite sure if she needs it...

I painted her nails for the first time last week and they made me smile. There is something about making my girls look really girly that just makes me happy!

She is generally a happy baby especially if I am holding her. (This picture was taken when she was 8 weeks old).

Anastyn and Papa, all dressed up from being at church. We babysat the Tippetts family when Taeya was 6 weeks old while Brian and Amy went to Europe. They brought this adorable dress home for Taeya. I think it is so cute and I am so happy I get to use it again. (Anastyn is 6 weeks and 5 days old in this picture).

Swim Meet

Last Saturday Gordon participated in a"masters" swim meet held in bountiful. This meet was a little more competitive than the summer games meets. He swam the 500 free, 200 IM, 200 free and he was on a relay team as well. He ended up with 1st place ribbons for his age group in all the events, and he took 1st place overall in the 200 IM. I really do enjoy watching him swim. He makes it look so easy. I know he was a little disappointed on his 200 free time he says he was really tired by the time the event came around (I think it's just because he is getting old!), but he still met his goals. His times were: 500 free - 5.37:14, 200 IM - 2.21:29, 200 free - 2.08:03, he was really happy about the relay, he swam the 50 free in 24.9 seconds.

He was really looking forward to this meet because he has actually been training. He swims on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights from 8:30-10:00 with a group at the AF pool. It really is kindof crappy to have him gone those 3 nights but do you really tell your husband "no" when he wants to work-out? The deal is he has to have Taeya in bed before he can leave! I think now that he is training he will try to swim in more meets, he says its good incentive, that will be fun because Taeya and I enjoyed cheering him on.

Birth Announcement

My extremely talented friend, Carrie, made this beautiful birth announcment for me. She is so great to always help me with christmas cards, birthday invitations, birth announcements, etc. I should probably just learn to use photo shop and then I wouldn't have to bug her but she just does such a great job, why would I need to do them myself?!

My Cute Girls

Taeya looked so cute on November 3rd as we waited for Stephanie to pick her up for school. She really loves school and is doing so well. Her teacher says she takes a lot of time to do her work and sometimes gets a little upset when she doesn't finish in time. She also told me she was very smart, which as a mother I always thought that but it makes me feel better to hear it from someone else. I went and watched her do show and tell the other day and I was impressed with all the kids in the classroom, and how well they played together and cleaned up together. Now if I could just get her to cleanup at home we would be doing great! Any suggestions?

After school I had to get a picture of my girls together. Anastyn is 7 weeks old now, and just starting to smile. There is something so rewarding to see your baby smile for the first time. It somehow makes all the sleepless nice worthwhile!

Taeya is such a big sister, I just really love having 2 cute girls!

Stroller Ride

We thought it would be fun to see how well Anastyn fit in Taeya's baby stroller, she looked so big. Taeya loved pushing her around, and I don't think Anastyn minded at all!

Jump on It

We were introduced to the Mom and Me class at Jump on it in April of 2008, then starting in September there was a large group of us who would go to the jumping aerobics class. This was great, it was $5.00 and the kids got all the benefits of the mom and me class, but less people, and a babysitter, and I got a great workout. We usually ended Aerobics with a trip to McDonald's for the kids. Sadly we stopped going in April of 2009 when half of the class was pregnant, me being one of them. Now, with babies sleeping in their carseats, we are excited to be back to the mom and me class. We have really missed it these past months!

Trick-or-Treating

The Halloween week-end began by trick-or-treating at Ultradent on Friday afternoon. I love doing this each year because it is nice and warm inside and Taeya gets lots of candy so I don't feel like we have to hit a lot of houses in our neighborhood. After ultradent we had a little halloween party at our house with Taeya's friends. We played a few games and decorated cupcakes - it was a little crazy, but fun. Saturday night we went to see my mom and dad, trick-or-treated at a few houses in the neighborhood, put Taeya to bed and watched a movie. It was great!

I know I wasn't so festive this year, but I figured I had an excuse with a new baby.

Pumpin Carving

We invited the Mehlhoff's over for our annual dinner and pumpkin carving. We had yummy Cream of Broccoli soup in pumpkin bread bowls, wassil, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. After dinner we got to work carving pumpkins. I think it is safe to say we get better at it each year.

Taeya had fun painting her pumpkin this year - she has no clothes on because she got paint on her clothes!

We were trick-or-treating and decided it would be fun to visit Brother and Sister Anderson's house (Tayea's nursery teachers) but we didn't know where they live, Taeya said to me "maybe they live at the church!"

Anastyn had her first taste of candy today when Taeya so nicely offered her a taste of her ring pop! I think Anastyn liked it!

We are frantically getting ready for church on Sunday and Taeya was playing in the room while we were putting the blessing dress on Anastyn. Gordon says to the baby "now don't poop in your pretty new dress," and Taeya responds "okay!"

Gordon and Taeya were driving in the car and a man came on the radio, Taeya commented that the man was the prophet. Gordon asked her what the prophets name is, and she told him, a minute later she said "we should name our baby President Monson, that's a pretty name."

I took Anastyn to her 2 week checkup and thought Taeya should come and get a flu shot while we were there. I prepped her all morning long for getting a shot, she told me "she wouldn't even say ow!" (Which is the only thing she said when she got her shot at her 3 year check-up). They didn't have enough flu shots at the doctors office to give her one and she was so upset. The nurse offered to give her a shot of saline and Taeya would have let her, but I didn't think it was a good idea. She finally settled for a sparkly star bandaid instead.

Gordon took Taeya swimming at the Lehi pool. She went on the big tube slide several times with Gordon. One of the times the turned a corner and Taeya bonked her head on the side of the slide. When they got done Gordon asked Taeya if she wanted to go again and she said, "Yes, but don't drive crazy!"

The day we brought Anastyn home from the hospital I said to Taeya, "what do you think of your new baby?" She enthusiastically answered, "I think it's great!"

Taeya and I went to meet her preschool teacher today. After we walked out of the classroom, she said "hey, I didn't learn my letters!" I guess she knows what she is going to learn at school this year!

When Taeya refers to herself she will say things like, "do you want I to...." (instead of do you want me to..)

Gordon and Taeya were singing ABBA in the car and Taeya said, "I sing so good cause I'm a big sister!"

Taeya asked me, "Mom, are you going to be a baby when you grown down?" I just kind of laughed, then she said, "but if you're a baby, who's going to be my mom?"

On the way to my doctors appointment Taeya was talking to Gordon on the phone telling him we had a lot of doctors. (She has gone to a lot of OB appointments with me and she had recently gone to her 3 year check-up). Gordon asked her if she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up and she said, "No, I want to be a lady!"

Taeya and I drove by a man holding a sign advertising for 99 cent tacos. He was wearing a large cowboy/somberero. Taeya said "mom, there's a cowboy!" I didn't really want to argue with her about whether is was a cowboy or not so I just agreed. I minute later she said to me, "hey, cowboy's don't hold signs, they ride horses!"

On the way to church I was getting mad at Gordon for driving too slow, and he said a little sarcastically, "I love church," and Taeya said "Me Too!" (Although she wasn't being sarcastic)

It was a cooler day and Taeya told me she was cold and wanted her witch costume on. We put the costume on but not 5 minutes later, she came to me and said, "I need to change, it's freakin' hot!" Of course she quickly found a swimsuit to put on instead.

Whenever Gordon or I get home from work she will say "how was yous work?" Most of the time if she was in bed before we got home she will ask us the next day!

After we get mad at Taeya, or if she thinks we might be sad, she will say to us, "Are you happy?" If you say "no", she will wait a minute or so and ask you again, until the answer is "yes!"

I told Taeya that we were going to go run errands, so we get to the first store, I think it was Cooks Nursery, and she said, "Is this errands?"

Gordon's sister, Angie, is in town from Washington. When Taeya was born she made her a Winnie the Pooh blanket that she loves recently. We told Taeya to tell her thankyou for the blanket. When she did Angie said, "you're welcome sweatheart." Today she said to me "I not a sweatheart, I a Taeya!"

Once again in the middle of the night, I put Taeya in bed with me, this time she said to me "thank yous for sharing yous bed with me!"

Taeya and I were in Idaho visiting my sister. Taeya woke up in the middle of the night and I put her in bed with me. I had my watch on and when I put my arm around her back I scratched her a little bit (she insisted on wearing a sleeveless dress to bed). She said to me "owe that hurt, I a special, special girl."

On the way out of the Disneyland park Gordon was holding Taeya and she said "I need a nap at night time." She quickly fell asleep on his shoulder after that.

I asked Taeya to help me clean up the hair things after I did her hair and she said, "No, I'm too dizzy." ( I am not sure if she meant that she was too busy, or if she just needed an excuse!)

Anytime Taeya does anything she thinks you will like she look at you and says, "Whatchu Think?" (What do you think?)

Taeya had on a pair of leggings that got a little hole in them. She looked at the hole and said "daddy fix it?" She thinks he can fix anything!

We were driving in the car and Taeya was playing with a toy phone. She had it up to her ear but didn't say anything for at least 10 minutes. I finally asked her who she was talking to, and she said "Grandpa," I asked her what Grandpa was saying and she said, "trick or treat!"

Last night Taeya found out how to climb out of her crib! She was talking to herself (hm, I wonder where she got that?) I could hear her through the door saying, "Careful Ta-ya" over and over. Curious I opened the door and she was teadering the bar of her crib avoiding a disaster!
